Do you prefer or require a deep mouthpiece? This is a very special offering from Germany! From
La Tromba Music
(Richard Carson Steuart's company, not those guys selling valve oil):
LA TROMBA mouthpieces have been methodically researched and developed over more than 20 years. They are a true synthesis of new-world technology and old-world craftsmanship. These mouthpieces were designed initially to meet Mr. Steuart's own artistic needs, firstly as an Opera- and Symphonic-musician; then as a studio, big-band and Chamber-player and lastly playing a decisive role in his success as a Concert-soloist from Renaissance and Baroque (on both period and modern instruments) to contemporary "Classical" music and Modern-Jazz.
More info about the
La Tromba
Lightweight (L series) mouthpieces:
Designed to give greater endurance through slightly wider, more comfortable rim sizes
Open symphonic backbore
Full cup depth for a warm but centered tone
The light mouthpiece is designed to have sufficient weight around the critical "soul" of the mouthpiece to ensure tone stability but still projects a wide tone circumference. Proves itself to be advantageous for chamber music and small studio recording and for younger or less experienced players.
Working for Zig Kanstul, I have been fortunate to meet and hear the best trumpet players in the world. When Zig first introduced me to Richard Steuart he quipped, "He plays Méndez better than Méndez"! Richard is a fabulous player, and recorded a superb CD titled "Spanish Blue", which is a love letter to the famous Méndez album "...Together" that Rafael recorded with guitarist Laurindo Almeida. Richard is the mouthpiece designer and La Tromba is his company. Good products, made in Germany. I especially like that La Tromba stamp.
The L-17 has a 16.66 mm (that's 0.656" for Americans - similar to a Schilke 12 or Giardinelli 5) rim and deep bowl-shaped cup. Comfort, with huge sound -- bold and broad! Rim and cup will feel familiar, but definitely more volume in the cup. Large throat. It's a big boy mouthpiece for an experienced player. Not for beginners. Surprisingly easy to center.
There is some light wear on the shank from being handled but this mouthpiece has hardly been played. Selling from my collection. Shipped with USPS First Class. International shipping available. Ask us about combined shipping.
